BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Are you looking for a summer experience unlike any other? The Southern Survival programs at Southern Prep are designed specifically with boys in mind. We offer an Academic Recovery program for young men to work on SAT/ACT Prep, English as Second Language, and Credit Recovery in core subjects, coupled with summer fun outdoors over the weekends and afternoons prior to Study Hall. Our Survival Camp is 90% outdoors, allowing your son to disconnect from electronics, get outside, and go on daily adventures with new friends. Our camp provides several physical, mental, and skill-based activities, all of which will push your son out of his comfort zone and establish a sense of self-confidence.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Swimming, Adventure, Wilderness/Nature, Waterfront/Aquatics, Martial Arts, Math, Academics, and more. Courses Include:
– ACT/SAT Prep
– Credit Recovery (English & Math)
– English As A Second Language (ESL)
– Teacher-led Online Learning Programs For Special Subjects
CAMP LOCATION: We are located about 20 miles from Auburn University in Auburn, AL, and about 110 miles from Atlanta, GA.
CAMP FACILITIES: 2 dormitories with indoor showers and bathrooms, canteen, game room, movie room, indoor swimming pool, 2 gyms, dining hall, 2 fishing lakes, 300+ acres to roam.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our boarding summer school program is a one (1) credit hour, four (4) week long in-class setting, geared towards academic recovery in core subjects. Students will experience rigorous academic class work, daily study activities, and supervised evening study hall. Summer school students will also participate in fun activities after school and on the weekends.
Summer School/Credit Recovery includes:
– English as a Second Language (ESL)
– ACT Prep
– Credit recovery (Math and English)
– Teacher-led online learning program for special subjects
Our month-long session is full of activities designed to challenge our campers to build camaraderie, discover their inner leader, and establish lifelong friendships. This summer, our campers will master the art of MUD (Making the Unrealistic Doable), DIRT (Discovering Individual Responsibility & Talents) and LEADERSHIP!
Adventure Camp Activities include:
– Firearm safety course
– Boating, fishing, swimming, and nature hikes
– Zip-lining
– Team building
– Paintball tournaments
– Shelter building and camping
– Aviation
– 3 night, 4 day canoe and camping adventure covering 51 miles
We believe that summer camp is very important to improve the overall personality of boys and to make them competitive by developing skill sets.
It's important to note that we run two separate 4-week long camps, but can bundle camps for families who are interested.
