CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We focus on girl empowerment activities that are designed to help every camper become a modern Renaissance girl. We have classes in everything from painting to tire-changing to fine art to Archery. We believe she should have the chance to do it all, or at least try it for herself.

We’ve thrown out the traditional rules of what every “well-rounded” girl should do or learn or know. Our goal: to help her make her art, find her voice, discover her path and learn some emotional and life skills along the way. That’s why our programming spans everything from painting to technical theater to singing to tire-changing. We believe she can do it all, or at least have the chance to try every bit of it for herself.

We focus on teaching creative and critical thinking skills while allowing every camper to just be herself. All fo our activities, from art and theater to ropes and canoeing, are open to all skill and experience levels and are the perfect vehicle for fostering self-confidence, self-esteem and leadership.

Camp Lantern Creek is unique in our dedication to camper-centered learning. We put campers first. We are focused on the camper’s needs, abilities, interests and learning styles. Our activities and our leadership program acknowledge camper voice as central to the learning process for every camper. Camp Lantern Creek girls are encouraged to be active, responsible participants in shaping their camp experience.

With a full theater stage and art studios, Camp Lantern Creek has a strong emphasis on the arts through classes that include drama, singing, painting and textile arts. Yet the outdoors play an important role as well, with a ropes course, pool, lake and multi-story water slide. A camper might spend part of her morning making pop art, the other half in a canoe, and the afternoon in “Rosie’s Riveters,” a class designed to teach girls how to use realworld tools.

Our mission is to create and sustain a magical environment where campers try new things every day while making lifelong friendships.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We have a national class leadership program that begins with rising 9th graders and proceeds through the high school year. We have intentionally developed training that lends itself extremely well to college and job applications, as well as rounding out real-world skills.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): In February of 2015 we offer a weekend for mothers and daughters to experience a day int he life at camp together. This is ideal for new campers and their moms to see what we are all about and to meet our staff face to face. See our website for dates, under CLC Adventures.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We offer a "taste" of camp during our New Years Camp, open to current campers as well as those looking to be a new Camp Lantern Creek camper. See our website for dates, under CLC Adventures.

Lone Oak Ranch is home to Camp Kiowa

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: In the Fall of 2003, Daryl Gelender and Jill Stolbach, both Dallas residents and former Greenhill private school teachers, dreamed of a place children could learn through an elaborate enrichment program taught by professionals in a summer camp environment. It was from this dream that Camp Kiowa brought its first campers to Texas Woman’s University in Denton during the summer of 2004.

In 2005, Brian and Jennifer Manhart purchased Camp Kiowa in an effort to maintain the high-quality enrichment program already in place, and to incorporate all the benefits of a traditional camp experience. After 2 years of continual growth on the university campus, Brian and Jennifer decided to offer an additional enrichment experience in a more traditional camp environment. The university experience many campers have known as Camp Kiowa evolved into Kiowa U. Many campers, in search of a more traditional style of overnight camp, but looking for the depth only found in an enrichment program, enjoyed the experience known as Adventure Kiowa.

In 2009, The Manhart family purchased the future home of Camp Kiowa(Lone Oak Ranch). They understood the value of joining both Kiowa U and Adventure Kiowa into one experience… Camp Kiowa at Lone Oak Ranch. This program offers the best of both worlds… traditional overnight camp, educational programs, relational activities, fun evening programs and genuine friendships! The Manharts also understood the benefit of living year-round on the property with other team leaders that could focus on quality programming in a very safe environment. The group has been extremely successful with “off-season” events and is now equipped to produce only the best summer camp experience with Camp Kiowa.
